If there's one place that should be clean, it's a laundromat, and the Black Rock Laundromat is just that. Longtime staff members Denise and Ken keep the insides and the tops of the machines clean after every wash. The laundromat draws walk-in clients of apartment-dwellers from the neighborhood who use the 90 self-serve machines. Men (mostly) use the drop-off same-day wash-dry-fold service. And in the spring and fall, people who have washers and dryers come to Black Rock Laundromat to wash quilts in the heavy-duty machines. TVs and video games help wile away the time -- or you could make new friends. Owner James Kaklamnos says one couple who met at the Black Rock Laundromat got married.
