"I think the key to Wells Fargo is that they have always been known as a responsible lender," says Brad Pratt, manager of the company's Southport office. The company has been the top retail lender in the U.S. for the last seven years, and an estimated one in every seven homes in the country was financed through Wells Fargo. Recently, the company has provided one sign of hope in a dire economy with its impressive first-quarter earnings (about $1 billion higher than expected) and an increasing value in its stock. It does pay to be responsible.
