Nicole Borsey turned 30 this year, and it turns out a youthful real estate agent can be a comfort to first-time homebuyers. "I think I can speak more sensibly to their fears," Borsey says, noting that her clients are in their 20s and 30s, are looking for single-family homes in the Stamford-Norwalk area and sometimes think the older generation formed their financial planning assumptions during different times. Plus, Borsey uses a blog and Twitter account to keep people informed about the listings and activities of the Property Network, the real estate firm she started about a year ago -- that's right, she started her own brokerage firm during the worst real estate downturn in 80 years. "People thought I was nuts," she says, "but I've had a good following and a good property base." And her age doesn't mean a lack of experience. Borsey was one of two top producers at a Stamford firm before starting her own business, and her mother, Domenica Ferraino, who had experience in real estate and currently works at the Property Network, set Borsey up as the manager of a small condo when she was just 18.
