At Mrs. Green's, you can find everything to make you healthy. They've got organic groceries, a frozen food section, fresh produce, a full salad bar, a deli, a bakery, a health and beauty section and, of course, tons of vitamins and other supplements. "We've been here for about 10 years and the same customers keep coming back," says Doreen Baker, a manager with the Fairfield store. "Our staff has also been here a long time, so we're all like family." Mrs. Green's also caters to people on special diets - including those with Celiac's disease, who can't digest wheat gluten. "We try to keep a good selection of breads and deserts from A to Z for them," says Nick Marangos, another manager. "Our bakery makes wonderful gluten-free cakes, including birthday cakes." The store carries a full line of natural cleaning products, organic beef and milk from grass-fed cows. Mrs. Green's (also in Stamford and Westchester) has attracted local celebrities including Keir Dullea, Don Imus, Gene Wilder and the late Eartha Kitt. The bad economy has hurt produce sales, but the store offers a monthly flyer and coupon book to help customers stretch their dollars. "This is a great company to work for," says Marangos. "From corporate right down to our cashiers - we have the friendliest people in the business right here."
