Longtime loyal customers keep Swanson's on the Best Of list year after year. The guys behind the counter know hundreds of customers by name. Owner Gary Swanson waited on many of them when he was a kid and it was his father's shop. Swanson's has fresh fish, of course, but the selection of prepared foods that just need to be popped in the oven is growing. At lunch, people working in the neighborhood stop in to pick up soup and salad. Friday nights, Swanson's does fish and chips. The fish is hand-dipped, not pre-frozen. They also do New England Clambakes in the summer - they'll set the whole thing up in a park, beach or your backyard.
